Oggi vorrei affrontare questo argomento che per alcuni potrà essere banale, ma non è sempre cosi scontato…

Andare in bicicletta conducendo il cane al guinzaglio, o anche lasciandolo libero di correre al nostro fianco, è vietato dalla legge: lo stabilisce l’articolo 182, comma 3, del Codice della Strada che recita come “ai ciclisti è vietato condurre animali o farsi trainare da altro veicolo”.

Il divieto del Codice della Strada vale sicuramente su ogni tipologia di strada percorsa da mezzi a motore, ed è quindi bene sapere che anche solo un giretto in bicicletta in città in compagnia del cane può farci incorrere nel fermo da parte della Polizia Municipale o dei Vigili Urbani.

Peraltro, oltre al divieto imposto dal Codice della strada ci sono anche numerose amministrazioni locali che hanno emanato regolamenti locali ispirati alla tutela del benessere dell’animale o a quella di altri soggetti della strada e che riguardano anche piste ciclabili e parchi cittadini: per questo motivo prima di inforcare i pedali in compagnia del proprio cane è sempre opportuno controllare sul sito del proprio comune se esista davvero un regolamento locale del genere e quali vincoli imponga.

C’è poi da fare alcune considerazioni di buon senso e di tutela della salute del nostro amico peloso: non tutte le razze infatti sono predisposte alla corsa, e farlo alla velocità che può raggiungere una bicicletta può risultare tutt’altro che benefico, se non davvero pericoloso per il sistema cardiocircolatorio del nostro cane.

Per un cane correre accanto a una bicicletta non è un’attività spontanea, e sicuramente è sconsigliato come anche improvvisare una gita in bicicletta in compagnia del proprio cane; c’è poi da considerare che l’asfalto è altamente abrasivo per le zampe dei cani, e costringere il cane a correre di tutta lena accanto alla nostra bicicletta può causare lesioni ai suoi polpastrelli.

E’ una pratica estremamente pericolosa che purtroppo vedo fare ancora oggi sia da giovani che da anziani.

Pensare che così facendo si possa far “allenare” o “sfogare” l’esuberanza del proprio animale è un pensiero totalmente sbagliato.
